Data center facilities are at the heart of any cloud offering and, as such, are getting more scrutiny as hedge funds evaluate who is the right cloud provider for them.

Earlier this year we created a pretty infograpic that mapped what firms should look for in a colocation facility. Remember this?Hedge Fund Colocation Evauation Map

Since not everyone loves infograpics, we decided to spell out what we look for in a colocation facility. Our due diligence is extensive, but here are some of the high points.

Ownership, Operation & Support: Eze Castle Integration seeks a colocation facility that is owned and operated by a reputable organization with vast industry knowledge and experience. Additionally, the personnel and client support must be of the highest quality in order to ensure that all Eze Castle colocation clients receive the best service and support possible.

Geographic Location: Eze Castle Integration seeks a colocation facility that is within accessible proximity to our offices around the world.

Performance Certifications: Eze Castle Integration seeks a colocation and data center facility that meets the industry’s highest performance and uptime standards.  In the United States, for example, this is SSAE-16 and SAS-70 and in Asia, it is ISO standards.

Telecommunication Provider Options: Eze Castle Integration seeks a colocation provider that allows for the usage of a variety of telecommunication carriers for redundancy and disaster protection.

Power & Cooling: Eze Castle Integration seeks a facility that maintains proper data center temperature conditions, which is critical to the operation and longevity of the IT equipment it houses. Additionally, the facility should ensure protection for power loss as well as alternative power sources on-site.

Security: Eze Castle Integration seeks a colocation facility which ensures the highest levels of security available in the industry. Mandatory characteristics include, but are not limited to: 24x7x365 manned lobby with visual verification of identity, two-phase authentication of visitors, secured access doors and elevators, monitored security cameras, additional door, motion and camera sensors, visitor logs for cages and key-locked cages and cabinets.
