Position: Systems Engineer

This position is currently open in the following locations:

  • Boston
  • New York

Responsibilities Include:

  • Management of servers, networks, security, and co-location environments
  • Work as part of a team which maintains and manages all networking and systems infrastructure, both internal and client-based                      

Required Skills:

  • MS/BS in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of IT experience with a minimum of 3 years in providing end user support
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting support for a variety of hardware and software platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solver, creative thinkers, and self motivated
  • Analytical and detail oriented. Able to prioritize, execute and deliver projects on time

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of the following programs:
    • MS Office 2000 and 2003
    • Windows 2000/XP and 2000/2003
    • MS Exchange 2000 and 2003
    • Active Directory
    • Symantec Backup Exec/Antivirus/Ghost
  • Knowledge and understanding of PC hardware and terminology, Ethernet network topology and basic knowledge of Cisco networking equipment
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Administer a LAN/WAN - TCP/IP environment using Windows/Exchange 2000 and 2003, including migrations to current OS and recovery from tape
    • Design, implementation, and migration to a new Windows 2003 domain w/ Active Directory
    • LAN/WAN connectivity through maintenance and troubleshooting of routers, switches, hubs, network cards, and dial up networking
    • Configured and deployed Layer 2 Cisco switches
    • Deployed home networks including broadband connection with a home firewall, Wireless, VPN software and internet email
    • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SMTP, IIS, SSL, Internet Infrastructure, and IP informational tools
    •   Experience with SANs, Citrix, Linux, Avaya, Routing are strong pluses
